In the months leading up to February of 2003
letrainbleu.com looked like this. There were no photos as of yet so I made this painting featuring Dosty Armwarmers, Harmonie knit bloomers, and the
Ballerina Bodice Leotard which is one of the last remnants of our days as a dancewear-as-fashion boutique. When the site launched there was an opening movie titled Dance Fever with a disco soundtrack and lots of slouchy t-shirts and legwarmers.
Few people probably remember our early days but in 2002 Christy Turlington had graced the cover of Vogue doing yoga (in a silk Calvin Klein evening gown no less) and there was a lot of buzz about a new zeitgeist of dressing for a modern, active lifestyle.

We imported the super-cool line of dancewear/streetwear from Italy Dimensione Danza which proved a big hit. We sold a TON of those Dosty legwarmers with buttons.

And then what happened? Well, Juicy Couture happened. And I just could not bring myself to sell sweatpants with the word Juicy printed across the butt. I realized I was much more excited about the emerging international fashion community and what
Glovep Up was doing in Berlin and
Dresslab was creating in Spain. And so Le Train Bleu slowly morphed into the quirky, Oregon-grown, international fashion boutique that it remains to this day. And I still enjoy coming to work everyday which is mainly because other people have continued to follow the adventures and loved the clothes and keep coming back. So thank you for loving Le Train Bleu--it has been my great pleasure to be your hostess.
Please celebrate with us and buy yourself something pretty from our Valentines Day Gift Guide. The code is "birthday" and the sale with last all week, expiring on Feb 18th.
